Menstrual period
The loss of blood once a month through a woman's vagina. A menstrual period lasts a few days. Every month, the woman's uterus gets ready to receive a fertilized egg cell. If the woman does not become pregnant, her body gets rid of the extra mucous membrane and some blood from the uterus.
