Living together

Couples, with or without children, can decide they want to live together. They have different options:

• Get married or enter into a legally registered partnership (legal contract);
• Live together without marriage or a legal contract.

A registered partnership is a legal contract, but the rights and duties in it are different from a marriage.

Some couples have a relationship, but they do not live together. This kind of relationship is called living apart together.
